Now THAT's a Crowd Reaction

For the 17 people out there that actually sat through the halftime show broadcast from last night's Orange Bowl (USC killed the Okies, 55-19, in what was a horribly one-sided affair), Ashlee Simpson's performance was a stunning moment of humiliation. Quite like her "Saturday Night Live" shaming, only this time out she actually made it through the whole song. Never mind the completely contrived punkish posing - the kicker is the way in which the crowd booed her mercilessly when she finally finished this jig. I hate to pour salt on the wound, but she's just such a disgrace. 72,000 drunken football fans can't be wrong.

Although, in all fairness Ashlee is being disproportionately mocked when you actually watch Lindsey Lohan's "Good Morning America" mess (scroll down to the Dec. 11th posting, and click to watch). Performances like these make me yearn for the days of "Wham!" and "New Kids on the Block." At least those saccharine-popsters seemed to know their own songs well enough to sing them on cue.
