They're Really Only Off by One Letter

The Bushies are in full-on damage-control mode given the revelations being presented in Seymour Hersh's latest shocker in this week's "New Yorker." For those of you already months behind on un-read "New Yorkers" piled in your bathroom, Hersh scoops how since the Summer of 2004 the Pentagon has been coordinating a series of covert missions into Iran (yes, IRAN) to map and catalog nuclear and tactical sites for future possible attacks. There's plenty of details on where our Special Forces are getting their intelligence (Pakistan, who deny a link) and how this is intended to circumvent Congressional oversight on the CIA by using the newly-strengthened Rumsfeldian forces in Defense (the overall premise of the article). I'm sure you can imagine where this is headed. After all, Bush feels he has a mandate after his re-election, and that doesn't only mean moving forward with his plans on Social Security. But if anyone can take the heat, it's Sy Hersh. Which raises the point for me yet again - while we must appreciate this man's resilience, are there NO OTHER investigative journalists out there on the case? If only Geraldo had taken a slightly different road in his development...
